Japan & China may be major investors in Indian real estate following this year

Global realty consultant JLL said that Japanese developers and the private equity investors are keen to take entry in the Indian real estate market. The consultant said that there is a possibility of the Japanese investors to invest at least $ 2 billion over the next three years. The investment would be in the industrial as well as the residential projects. The global consultant JLL also reiterated that Indian market has been emerging as the major investment destination for the Japanese as well as the Chinese builders and developers. This year one of the most renowned and the biggest developer, Wanda has entered into an MOU with the Haryana government and more and more developers of China and Japan can be expected to invest in the Indian real estate opined the consultant.

JLL said that the private equity investors are also vying the Indian Realty market. The Japanese developers are looking forward more and more to explore the realty market by entering into joint ventures with the Indian Developers and are more seen to be interested in Industrial projects. The Chairman of JLL, Mr. Puri said that it is likely that Japanese investors will invest at least $ 2 billion in the Indian real estate markets. This is only possible as 100 percent FDI was allowed in the real estate industry. It just took time for the foreign developers to make big investments in India reported JLL.

What has already been achieved is that the biggest developer of China, Dalian Wanda group signed a MOU earlier this year with the state of Haryana for developing the Wanda Industrial New City. This investment by the Chinese Developer is taken to be significant as they would invest USD 10 billion in the next decade. The consultant said that other Chinese developers would follow suit, very soon.

The survey led by RICS and JLL which was done in January this year had shown that a majority of respondents as large as 62 percent had the opinion that Japan and China would pour in more capital in the Indian real estate.
